| Berkeley wins cleaning contract for Paris Sorboinne University Abu Dhabi | ||
Abu Dhabi Berkeley Services L.L.C. has been awarded the cleaning and pest control contract for the prestigious subsidiary of the SorbonneUniversity in Paris, France. The newly constructed 2,000-student coeducational university, located on Reem Island east of Abu Dhabi, will comprise nine buildings including two academic centres, a library,an auditorium and administration buildings connected to a central plaza. These core facilities will be complemented by male and female dormitories, a dining hall and a sports hall. These will all be integrated to provide a self-contained international standard campus that will attract both overseas and local students |

The premises are owned by a joint.venture between Mubadala, an investment arm of the Government of Abu Dhabi, and The John Buck Company, an internationally recognized and award-winning integrated commercial real-estate development, leasing and property anagement service from Chicago. Abu Dhabi Berkeley Services L.L.C. has been awarded a two year contract,commencing with 30 full-time operatives in the first |
phase and continuing with 45 full-time operatives in the second phase. This new contract supports the rapid development of Berkeley in Abu Dhabi, who, with around 650 staff, provide cleaning and maintenance services to prominent clients like Etihad Airways, Aldar Properties, Ikea and First Gulf Bank. |

Berkeley Services Group Managing Director takes part in Facility Management press conference in Dubai As the worldwide consolidation phase reaches the former boomtowns of the Middle East, six German experts from the Construction and Facility Management industry discussed industry specific strategies on March 18th 2009. The expert panel discussed strategies for companies in this field to overcome the current situation while positioning themselves intelligently for the future. The audience, who comprised of journalists from local newspapers and specialized magazines, were made aware of how involving the right partners reduces the operational costs of a building tremendously. |

Berkeley Services Group to provide services for RUGBY WORLD CUP SEVENS The 2009 Rugby World Cup Sevens took place on the 5th, 6th and 7th of March 2009 in Dubai. This popular event was hosted in the brand new rugby stadium, “The Sevens”, and attracted approximately 100,000 spectators over the three days. The venue hosted 24 men’s teams and 16 women’s teams, comprising around 600 players and representing 31 countries. |

The Berkeley Services Group was selected as the exclusive service provider to undertake the event cleaning and waste collection services based on its proven expertise in events like the Dubai Air Show and Global Village. Berkeley Services was on site with approximately 180 operatives and 20 management staff. The team coordinated the collection of more than 1,900 |
tons of waste during those three operationally challenging days. Our efforts were rewarded by successful conclusion of services and receiving a Certificate of Appreciation “recognizing the invaluable contribution to the success of the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2009” from Promoseven Sports Marketing, the event management company. |
Berkeley Services Group employee to receive Award from Atlantis Hotel The Berkeley Services Group provides cleaning for the common areas and the Aquaventure Waterpark of The Atlantis Hotel. This hotel is located at The Palm Jumeirah in Dubai and opened its doors in September 2008 and the Berkeley Services Group has been providing these services ever since. Berkeley employs a daily workforce of around 200 staff in two shifts to provide services at this location. |

In January, the Berkeley Site Supervisor at the Atlantis Hotel Mr. Chinna Babu was awarded the “Staff Legend of the Month” Award, a first for any contractor on site, for his hard work and dedication since the opening of the premises. Commenting on this award, Mr. Santosh Kuruvilla, Assistant of the Director Housekeeping Atlantis Hotel, states: “Mr. Babu has been instrumental in setting up our department and was one of the first members of the housekeeping public area team. His dedication and hard work serves as role model for the entire team.” |
